Nathaniel Katz, MD, MS, CEO, Analgesic Solutions

Dr. Nathaniel Katz is considered one of the leading experts of treatment and clinical study design in pain clinical trials. He is a neurologist and pain management specialist with a distinguished career at Harvard Medical School, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. From 2000-2004 he served as Chair of the Advisory Committee, Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Addiction Products Division, United States FDA, during which time he completed a Master of Science in Biostatistics at Columbia University.

Dr. Katz founded Analgesic Solutions with the mission of modernizing the design and conduct of pain clinical trials to advance the “scientific quality” of pain clinical research, and empower effective treatments for patients. He is the Principal Consultant in charge of scientific oversight at Analgesic Solutions.

Dr. Katz’s holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at Tufts School of Medicine. He has completed numerous clinical trials of treatments for pain, both industry-initiated and investigator-initiated, involving pharmaceuticals, non-pharmaceutical analgesics and devices, and has also conducted studies related to opioids, pain, addiction, and other issues related to opioid therapy. Dr. Katz was an Associate Editor at the Clinical Journal of Pain, and Associate Editor (Pain) for the Encyclopedia of Neurological Sciences.

Robert Newman, Chief Operating Officer

Analgesic Solutions Chief Operating Officer is Robert Newman.  Over his 30-year career in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology field, Mr. Newman has held roles of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, business development and for most of the past 10 years, operations.  Mr. Newman has been involved in company formation, expansion and a variety of strategic transactions.  He has built teams focused on virtually every aspect of company operations.  Prior to joining Analgesic Solutions, he was the COO of TissueGene, a small regenerative medicine company focused on the clinical development of a cellular therapy for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee.  Mr. Newman is responsible for all of the operational aspects of the company’s business.


Roi Treister, PhD, Director of Research and Development

Dr. Treister, alongside Dr. Katz, serves as the scientific lead in all Analgesic Solutions’ programs and research tools. Dr. Treister holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Haifa (Israel) and a Ph.D. in pain neurophysiology from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He served as a research fellow in The Human Experimental Pain Research Laboratory at the University of Haifa (2011-2013) and in the Nerve Injury Unit, Neurology Department, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School (2013-present). In the past decade Dr. Treister has been part of multiple pain related clinical studies and development of new measurement tools, and techniques.



Tony May, Director of Business Development

Tony May is the Director of Business Development at Analgesic Solutions.  He brings 17 years of leadership and sales experience to the position, spanning the military and biotech industry.

Tony served for ten years in The Parachute Regiment, British Army, which included two years with the US Military at Fort Bragg, N.C. He retired in 2008 at the rank of major and moved into sales and marketing.

Prior to Analgesic Solutions, Tony worked at IDEXX Laboratories from 2009-2015, the world leader in veterinary diagnostic. There his responsibilities included direct sales in the Chicago area, followed by a sales training role covering the US, and subsequently he was responsible for driving sales growth in a three state region.

Tony joined the Analgesic Solutions team in 2015 to lead all business development activities, including sales, marketing and product evolution.  He holds a B.S. (Hons) in Genetics from the University of Liverpool, UK.
